Natural Science Museum
The Natural Science Museum (Haus der Natur) has fascinating exhibitions on various aspects of Nature, both animate and inanimate, and is a European leader in the use of exhibition technology.
Open Air Museum
The Open Air Museum in Salzburg exhibits rural life between the 16th and 20th century. More than 60 typical farm steads, traditional houses, forges, sawmills, mills and sheds demonstrate how people lived, worked and farmed in Salzburg and the surrounding area.
Museum in the Fortress of Hohensalzburg
The Museum in the Fortress gives insight into the ordinary, everyday life of the people of Salzburg in the Middle Ages, as well as highlighting some important historical dates for the Fortress itself. Mediaeval machinery is also on display.
Museum of Mozart's Birthplace
It was in this house that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on the 27th of January 1756. The living quarters of the family Mozart have been turned into a museum.
Museum of Toys
The Toy Museum houses wooden, clay and tin toys, as well as an exhibition on the world of dolls, and doll play houses. There are also toy railway exhibits from past and present, and examples of educational toys. The papier-mâché theatre is of particular interest.
Museum of Cathedral Archaeology
The so-called Dommuseum is located in various parts of the Cathedral and houses religious relics, jewels and treasures from the Cathedral, and curiosities from the private collections of the Prince Archbishops.
Museum of Silent Night and Austrian Heritage Museum
The museum is at the exact location where the famous Christmas Carol "Silent Night, Holy Night" was performed for the first time. The story of how the Carol was produced, and its rapid rise to fame throughout the world, is central to the exhibition.
Museum of the Baroque Period in Salzburg
The artistic displays shown here are highly-rated examples of working sketches from monumental art of the 17th and 18th centuries.
World of Marionettes
Here you can admire many famous puppets from the famous Puppettheatre in Salzburg, like Papageno and Papagena of Mozart's ‘The Enchanted Flute’, as well as exhibits from various parts of Europe and Asia.
Museum of Musical Instuments
The Museum of Musical Instruments houses in excess of 1800 rare and valuable instruments from all over the world, some of them virtually unknown. Some of these instruments can be tried out by the visitor.
