For cross-country skiers the region offers a network of cross- country skiing routes of 80 km in lengh. The nearby village of Faistenau offers a choice of 54 km cross country routes , of which 12 km are for skating, and a floodlit route of 5 km for those who want to enjoy the magic of cross country skiing by night.

Snow boarders feel at home instantly on our pistes, and even in summertime there are fantastic offers on Austria's glaciers for all snow-boarding enthusiasts! Some of our skiing resorts are renowned for the exceptional snowboarding on offer.

A winter activity traditionally enjoyed by children, sledging is rapidly becomong a growing trend amongst young and old. Whilst the little ones are having fun on the mogles, the adults race down dedicated sledge runs at hair-raising speed!

Experience, training and body control - in addition to a good dose of courage - are all advantageous if you want to engage in this sport. And if you need to improve in any of these areas, there are a number of mountaineering and sports training centres which can help.
